Abstract

The current research aims to identify the biomechanical characteristics of the upper reverse waist snatch and to establish biomechanical bases for a training program using specific exercises to improve the upper reverse waist snatch . The researchers used the descriptive (analytical) approach. The researchers performed this study on a Greco-Roman wrestler who has been prepared for Reo de Janeiro Olympics - Brazil (2016). This wrestler served as a model for the upper reverse waist snatch through performing six trials. The researchers performed the motion analysis using Win Sports Kinetics Motion software (Analysis WS-KMA). Most important results include:

Motion analysis indicated that indicated that the total duration of the upper reverse waist snatch was 1.72 sec. this duration was distributed as (0.40) sec for preparation (23%), (0.86) sec for lifting (50%) and (0.46) sec for throwing (37%)
Biomechanical analysis for displacement, velocity and acceleration of center of gravity in addition to angular differences for knee, hip and elbow indicated the importance of force and velocity during the whole performance while explosive power is specifically important during lifting and flexibility and balance are specifically important during throwing
Angular differences for knee, hip and elbow indicated the importance of improving muscular strength so that the wrestler can successfully perform this skill under investigation
Specific exercises for the upper reverse waist snatch should be based on the timeframe and motor path identified by the analysis with special concentration on specific physical variables (strength – explosive power – velocity – flexibility – balance) so that the wrestler can pass the critical moment successfully
