The Effectiveness of a Program for Sports Psychological Guidance and Counseling on the Self-Confidence of Injured Female Students

Abstract

Psychological rehabilitation after sports injuries is considered one of the applied fields of sports psychology because it deals with problems before they reach the point that requires intervention to solve existing and potential problems. From here, the importance of sports psychological counseling appears in delaying the fatigue appearance, enduring pain and removing fears. There are many psychological manifestations that are related to injury and that can affect the injured students, among these multiple manifestations: (fear, anxiety, depression, poor adaptation to injury, loneliness, lack of self-confidence, and pain perception).Self-confidence is linked to mental health because it prepares the right psychological foundations for emotional balance and positive social adaption. Therefore, the importance of the current research appears in that it deals with one of the psychological problems that concern the sports field in general and the students of physical education in particular. The aim of the study is to identify:
● The effectiveness of the sports psychological guidance and counseling program (on the injured students self-confidence)The research community is represented in the injured female students at the Faculty of Physical Education for Girls in Al-Gazeria, whose ages ranged from (18:21) years. The training program duration was 3 months, with 3 training units per week, consisting of (63) training units, and the unit duration ranged from (30-35) s.The most important conclusions in light of the research objective and within the sample limits, the procedures used, and by discussing the results, the researcher concluded that there are statistically significant differences between the pre and post-measurements of the experimental group in favor of the post-measurement in the sport confidence scale (as a trait, as a case).recommendation to use the sports psychological counseling program to improve the self-confidence of the injured students and more research on different samples using the sports psychological
